Price Boost: Nothing hazardous about backing Eden

Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are set to contest the ‘battle of the big bucks’ in this season’s Champions League quarter-finals and to build the excitement further Ladbrokes are offering an enticing enhancement on one of the Londoners’ star players.

In Eden Hazard the Blues know they have an ace up their sleeve as the bid to establish a valuable first-leg advantage at the Parc de Princes, with the bookmaker boosting the price on the Belgian to score first from 8/1 to 10/1.

The 16-goal-man has been in impressive form in front of goal so far this term and his performances in this tie will be pivotal in aiding Chelsea’s bid to topple their nouveau-riche rivals.

It won’t be an easy assignment for the visitors – PSG are unbeaten in 28 games at home in European competition back to 2006, with 11/10 on offer for the hosts to triumph here.

The draw is priced at 23/10 while a Chelsea victory is on at 11/4 with boss Jose Mourinho no doubt hoping for a repeat of the 3-0 success his side enjoyed when they last travelled to the French capital 10 years ago.

Recording a similarly emphatic victory may be a somewhat unrealistic expectation given the quality of their opponents but Chelsea have shown how ruthless they can be in continental competition.

The Pensioners ripped into both Steaua Bucharest and Schalke in the group stage, scoring 11 goals with just one in reply earlier in the campaign with the 12/5 for Chelsea to score two or more goals in Paris offering potential value.

And while it would be foolish to ignore PSG’s own attacking threat, chiefly star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, a Mourinho-esque away performance characterised by resolute defending and swift counter-attacking is likely to afford Hazard and co plenty of goalscoring opportunities.
