GAA Super Bonus Acca: Laois and Longford among four tips

Published:

Our GAA Super Bonus Acca is back with our news team (with a little help from our friends across the Irish Sea) casting an eye over the best of the action.

We’ve picked four football selections to do the business with odds of 9/4 about every one of our top tips triumphing.

Here are your best bets for the weekend:

Roscommon to beat Leitrim @ 1/10 (Connacht SFC Quarter-Final)

The 1/10 odds offered reflect the potentially one-sided affair that could ensue with Roscommon victorious on each of the previous five occasions these teams have met in Connacht Championship action.

Leitrim are seeking their first win over their local rivals since the year 2000 but they’re likely to be made to wait longer following this weekend’s contest.

Allianz Football League Division III champions Roscommon won seven of their eight games during their recent campaign and are ready to confirm their superiority over their Division IV neighbours.

Tyrone to beat Down @ 3/10 (Ulster SFC Preliminary Round – Live on RTḔ Two)

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte will oversee his 12th successive Ulster Championship campaign with his side our choice to overcome regular sparring partners Down at 3/10.

This will be the pair’s sixth meeting in the last 10 years with Tyrone triumphant in three of those encounters, with one draw and a sole victory for the visitors.

And while Down’s attacking threat has been well publicised, we fully expect last year’s All-Ireland semi-finalists Tyrone to weather any storm and come out on top.

Longford to beat Offaly @ 4/9 (Leinster SFC Preliminary Round)

Offaly’s poor recent record in the championship looks set to continue with Longford poised  to ensure their opponents remain winless in the competition for a seventh year in a row.

While the visitors may enjoy a record of four wins and just one defeat to Longford in their previous five meetings in the championship, their opponents can start to reverse that form on home turf.

Longford were victorious when the sides last met in March for an Allianz League encounter and look a good bet at 4/9 to book a quarter-final date against Wexford.

Laois to beat Wicklow @ 4/9 (Leinster SFC Preliminary Round)

Laois manager Tomás O Flatharta knows his side face a stern test of their credentials against Wicklow in Aughrim.

But we’re backing The O’Moore County to get their Leinster Football Championship campaign off to a solid start and reach the quarter-final stage for the first time in three seasons.

The visitors enjoy a fine record over Wicklow, winning nine of their 12 previous championship encounters, the last victory coming in 2008.

And given their strong line-up this season, Laois can ensure home advantage counts for nothing at odds of 4/9.
