New Man United boss Van Gaal to miss out on PSG star

New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has already been dealt his first snub after PSG striker Edinson Cavani ended speculation linking him with a move to Old Trafford.
Van Gaal was unveiled as the Red Devils’ new boss on May 19th, with Ryan Giggs confirmed as his assistant, but the pair will be forced to look elsewhere for new striking options after the Uruguayan international committed his immediate future to PSG.
Despite only being in Paris for one season following his £55m move from Napoli speculation had been mounting that the forward would be the first of many marquee signings by United this summer.
However, the striker used PSG’s recent title celebrations to commit to the club, saying he will remain in Paris despite interest from United and a host of other top sides.
Attention will now turn elsewhere, with Van Gaal being linked to a number of top names across Europe including Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller.
Elsewhere on the pitch, the Dutchman is expected to make moves for Southampton left back Luke Shaw – who is a 1/4 shot to join United this summer – Muller’s Bayern team mate Toni Kroos and Borussia Dortmund centre back Mats Hummels.
The shake-up at United comes after the club’s worst ever Premier League season in which David Moyes came and went and the team finished seventh in the league – thus missing out on European football.
This, however, could turn out to be a blessing in disguise with the Red Devils priced at a relatively short 6/1 to bounce back and reclaim the Premier League crown in the forthcoming season.
United remain behind Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in the betting but if Van Gaal can beef up his squad with quality signings and the Old Trafford outfit make the most of not being involved in European football then the so-called dark days ahead could turn out to be just a blip on the giant radar that is the Red Devils’ success.
