Valencia to win but bow out against Sevilla in Europa League

Published:

With the support of the Mestalla behind them, Valencia should be backed to maintain their fine record at home against Sevilla, but the Andalusians have more than enough in the tank to progress past Los Che to the final.

Valencia are 5/4 for victory on the night with Ladbrokes and having won three of the last four meetings between the teams on home soil, they look a worth bet to win.

Having lost the first leg 2-0 in Seville, Los Che remain a distant 5/1 to make the final in Turin, with key man and the club’s top scorer in the Europa League Paco Alcacer set to miss out through suspension.

Instead the onus will be on on-loan forward Eduardo Vargas, who netted last time out at home against Basel in the competition and is 6/1 to grab the opener here and 2/1 to score at anytime.

Sevilla remain strong favourites though with either a win, which they are 2/1 to achieve, or a draw, which is offered at 5/2, enough to see them through.

It all makes the 1/9 on the Andalusians progressing something of a dead cert, particularly if Frenchman Kevin Gameiro continues his fine goalscoring form on the road.

The former Paris Saint-Germain forward has scored three goals in Sevilla’s last three games and is a tempting 7/4 to score any time.

However with Sevilla shipping goals in three of their last four on the road and Valencia conceding in each of their last four competitive fixtures, the banker bet of the night is undoubtedly both teams to score at 13/20.

Alternatively, backing the Andalusians with a +1 handicap at 8/13 to see off Valencia could stand you in good stead ahead of another busy weekend of football betting action from across Europe.
