Royalty: What will Kate and Wills call their second child?

Published:

As Prince George celebrates his first birthday speculation is already mounting on the potential name of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s second child after betting was suspended on an announcement.

Ladbrokes have been quick to react by pricing up a number of options after rumours circulated that Kate and Wills will soon make it known they’ll be expecting the pitter-patter of tiny feet once again.

A school friend of Kate’s, Jessica Hay, recently told Australian media that the Duchess is pregnant and that the couple’s ‘inner circle are buzzing’ about the news.

Hay told New Day magazine: “I’ve heard it from several different friends of theirs now and they’re saying that they think there’s going to be an official announcement in weeks.”

While some commentators have been quick to scotch the rumours, we’re choosing to get stuck in much like we did back in 2012 when the arrival of the new Prince was announced.

So, how can you get involved?

Name of 2nd Child

George was a heavily backed choice before his birth and those tempted to go with a favourite again can find Victoria and James topping the list at 6/1.

Elizabeth and Alexandra are next best at odds of 8/1 while Diana is a 12/1 shot.

Sex of  2nd Child

The bookies have given slight favouritism to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s next child being a girl at 4/5 with a boy priced at evens and twins a 20/1 shot.

Those who bought in to the hysteria surrounding the latter option before Prince George’s birth may be tempted to do so again.

Birth Year of 2nd Child

With betting on both 2014 and 2015 suspended, 2016 is the next available option at odds of 2/1.

Prince Charles and Prince Harry were born two years apart with Queen Elizabeth II’s first two children also separated by a two-year gap.

Perhaps the bookies have this one right?
