Cavani is the favourite ahead of Falcao for Liverpool move

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers’ pledge to recruit a new striker to the Anfield fold has prompted speculation as to which headline-grabbing frontman the Reds are looking to recruit.

And after weighing up the various media reports linking some of Europe’s most in-demand strikers with a Merseyside move, Ladbrokes has narrowed it down to a trio of top names, each of whom could yet be in line for an Anfield switch.

Radamel Falcao to move to Liverpool @ 6/1

Ever since the departure of teammate and compatriot James Rodriguez to Real Madrid, Falcao has been agitating for a move away from the Principality club, who have endured a difficult start to the season having lost their opening two fixtures in Ligue 1.

Unfortunately a Los Blancos switch looks unlikely, despite recent speculation linking the Colombian with a return to La Liga. With no bid forthcoming, Liverpool could offer the South American an easy escape route to a team where he would be top dog and competing in the Champions League.

Ezequiel Lavezzi to move to Liverpool @ 4/1

Previously linked with a summer switch to Chelsea, Lavezzi’s versatility would make him an ideal addition to Brendan Rodgers’ squad and PSG may be willing to sell, after a season in which the Argentine has slipped slightly further down the pecking order in Paris.

The main stumbling block to any deal could be the price tag attached to the former Napoli man, who impressed for La Albiceleste at the World Cup and could command a significant transfer fee. With Liverpool looking for a more natural goalscorer, Lavezzi may not be their first choice.

Edinson Cavani to move to Liverpool @ 3/1

The Uruguayan may have found the net for the Parisiens in their 2-0 league win over Bastia, but the former Serie A hotshot is still thought to be open to the idea of leaving France and moving to a club where he will no longer toil in the shadow of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Cavani has been forced to play out wide under Laurent Blanc, who favours the big Swede through the middle. Having thrived at Napoli as the striker in chief, a move to Liverpool would allow Cavani to return to his familiar role and could come with the seal of approval from Luis Suarez.
