Kamara: Van Gaal won’t make same mistakes as Moyes

Last year David Moyes was preparing to start his reign at Manchester United with tough clashes against Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United in his first six matches in charge but this time around new manager Louis van Gaal is facing an easier task.
The Red Devils open their campaign at home to Swansea before facing Sunderland, West Ham and three newly promoted clubs during the opening weeks of the new season.
Oh how Moysie would have loved a start like that!
But Ladbrokes ambassador Chris Kamara believes Moyes’ largest gaffe was bringing attention to United’s tough opening and is backing LVG not to make the same mistake when the action gets underway on August 16.
Speaking exclusively to Ladbrokes News, Kamara said: “One of the biggest mistakes David Moyes made during his time at Old Trafford was complaining about the difficulty of United’s early season fixtures.
“As it turned out they did prove to be troublesome but whether he thought that or not he should never have brought attention to it.
“Suddenly the fans were questioning Moyes and saying this is Manchester United Football Club you don’t go around saying stuff like that.”
After an indifferent pre-season United started the last campaign, in which they ended in a disappointing seventh position, with a 4-1 victory over Swansea but things soon started to unravel with a 0-0 draw against Chelsea and two defeats to rivals Liverpool and Manchester City.
The whole mood is different in the United camp this time around with Van Gaal’s side unbeaten heading into the big kick-off and Ladbrokes are 11/2 that United win their opening six matches in the league.
According to Kamara, United are no certainties to take their pre-season form into the start of the Premier League season but Van Gaal will be desperate for his side to lay down a marker and start the campaign with a bang.
“Louis van Gaal can do nothing about the fixtures and whether people think they are easy or not, Manchester United have still got to go out there and get all three points,” the former Bradford and Stoke City manager added.
“But they are favourites to win their opening six games and with that brings its own weight of expectancy on everyone at the club but Van Gaal will have everyone fully prepared and will want to hit the ground running to show people he’s arrived and means business.”
Manchester United are third favourites behind Manchester City and Chelsea to lift the Premier League trophy at 5/1 with Ladbrokes.
