Bundesliga star and West Ham target hints at “possible” move

West Ham United could yet be in line for a bit of last-minute shopping ahead of the close of the summer transfer window, with Ludovic Obraniak one potential new arrival.

The Poland international had been linked with a move to Upton Park last week, but those rumours have yet to translate into any formal bid for the 29-year-old.

Sam Allardyce has already unveiled one major new signing in the form of former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song over the weekend and while he has already moved to claim that the club will not be breaking the bank with another major signing, Obraniak could yet arrive.

Signed by current club Werder Bremen from Ligue 1 side Bordeaux for just £1.5m, the midfielder could be available for a similarly low price.

And the Hammers may have the funds necessary to bring him to the Boleyn Ground following the sale of Mohammed Diame to Hull City for £3.5m.

With Allardyce eager to steer the club away from any potential relegation fight, the addition of a player of Obraniak’s quality would be welcome by the Upton Park faithful.

And the 29-year-old has refused to rule out a move to the club, telling reporters over the weekend that “anything is possible” when quizzed on his future.

The Bremen star is certainly in demand, with Guingamp also keen on bringing the player back to France, while there are rumours of several offers from major clubs in both Russia and Turkey.

West Ham certainly appear to be in need of an injection of quality in their squad, after going down to a 3-1 loss at home against Southampton at the weekend.

That result was the Irons’ second defeat in three Premier League games and came days after they exited the Capital One Cup at the hands of League One opponents Sheffield United, who defeated the Hammers on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.
