Cross-sport weekend wager: Leeds, Tipp and Fort Bastion all in

Published:

With such a wealth of action taking place across the sport-o-sphere this weekend, we’ve had a root through the golden news.ladbrokes archives to bring back back the feature formerly known as Editors’ Best Bets.

Football’s up first, but don’t let that put you off this cracking cross-sport wager…

Leeds to beat Brentford @ 5/2

The perpetually-in-crisis Whites have quietened down and let their football do the talking in recent weeks, with three wins and a draw in four Championship fixtures since the end of August.

Meanwhile, Brentford have lost their last two games by a combined scoreline of 7-0, so the visit to Griffin Park ought to make new Leeds boss Darko Milanic’s first fixture in charge a happy one.

Europe to win the Ryder Cup @ 10/11

The hosts, who are 2 ½-1 ½ points down at the time of writing, now look a backable price to triumph at Gleneagles.

Europe have won the last four on home soil and were 10-6 down going into the singles in 2012, before winning by half a point, so there’s no need to panic.

Cambridgeshire Handicap: Fort Bastion @ 33/1

The Ruth Carr-trained five-year-old’s presence in our weekend wager means if all five come up, a 1500/1-plus payout will be in store for anyone who got on.

Obviously, Fort Bastion should only be approached from an each-way angle for this highly competitive Newmarket handicap, but having only been beaten a shoulder by 6/1 favourite Cornrow last time out, Carr’s animal looks overpriced.

All-Ireland Hurling final replay: Tipperary to beat Kilkenny @ 11/10

This Kilkenny team has won an incredible nine of the last 14 All-Irelands, but an end to their dominance is clearly coming under bainisteoir Brian Cody, who has been in situ since 1998.

Tipperary, who have made three of the last six finals, winning once, came back from four points down late on in the first match to force a replay with Cody’s men, missing two penalties along the way, so luck could be with the Premier County this year.

Philadelphia Eagles +4.5 to beat San Francisco 49ers @ 10/11

This handicap head-start seems more than a touch generous considering Philadelphia have won all three of their fixtures so far in the 2014/15 campaign.

They face a 49ers side coming into this game off the back of two defeats, which makes this bet look even more of a cracker.
