Boxing: British trio star in our Saturday night 3/1 treble

Published:

British boxing is booming at the moment. Here at Ladbrokes News we’ve already told you which fights we’re looking forward to in 2015 but back to the present and three of the sport’s rising stars face the biggest test of their career in Hull this weekend.

Luke Campbell, Tommy Coyle and Gavin McDonnell all face international level fights and wins can see them all make their mark on the international rankings and move closer to challenging for world honours.

Read on to find out why backing all three to come out on top in tough bouts can pay dividends in our 3/1 British boxing treble.

Luke Campbell to beat Daniel Eduardo Brizuela @ 1/14

London 2012 Olympic gold medallist Campbell faces the toughest test of his career to date when he faces Brizuela.

We all know what the Argentine can do after his impressive performance against a possible future opponent for Campbell in Tommy Coyle last time out and his boxing skills will represent a challenge that hasn’t been in front of the Hull fighter before.

But Campbell has been really impressive in his first eight professional fights and he is in determined mood ahead of the fight with Brizuela and we are backing him to make a huge statement on Saturday night.

Tommy Coyle to beat Michael Katsidis @ 1/2

Eddie Hearn is certainly not protecting Campbell and Tommy Coyle ahead of their potential showdown next summer if their fights this weekend are anything to go by!

While Campbell is in arguably his biggest test, Coyle is really stepping up against the experienced Michael Katsidis.

The veteran Aussie has been in with some of the division’s best over a 30-fight career and beat Kevin Mitchell, who has warned Coyle over the danger Katsidis represents, over three brutal rounds back in 2010 for the WBO interim world title.

But if Coyle uses his boxing skills to keep Katsidis, who is certainly not the same fighter as back in 2010, at arm’s length then he can secure the greatest win of his fledgling career.

Gavin McDonnell to beat Vusi Malinga @ 4/5

This is another 50:50 fight on what is a great card of boxing at the Hull Ice Arena.

McDonell steps up to international class after just 13 fights and takes on South African Malinga, who has been the distance with former IBF Bantamweight champion Stuart Hall and WBC Super-Bantamweight title holder Leo Santa Cruz.

This is a really stern test for the Doncaster fighter, who defended his British title with a draw against Josh Wale back in May, but he is confident of picking up the biggest win of his career and propelling himself onto the world stage.

The confidence of his team and the fighter himself in putting the 28-year-old in with this sort of challenger is enough for us and, despite some caution we are backing McDonnell to complete our British boxing treble.
