Champions League accumulator: Big wins for Bayern and Chelsea

| 04.11.2014

This Wednesday’s Champions League action throws up plenty in the way of one-sided contests with Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Shakhtar Donetsk and Manchester City backed to win by two clear goals.

Last time out in the competition these games threw up a glut of goals and while it would be tempting to back each of the four to run riot this time round, our more conservative handicap fourfold is still available at odds of just over 13/2.

Bayern Munich (-1) to beat AS Roma @ 13/20

On a high after their comeback win over bitter rivals Borussia Dortmund at the weekend, Bayern will be confident of seeing off Roma, following their 7-1 triumph at the Stadio Olimpico last month. More importantly, four of the Bavarians’ last five wins have come by a margin of two goals or more.

Man City (-1) to beat CSKA Moscow @ 2/3

The Sky Blues may have squandered a two-goal lead to draw in Russia but with three of City’s four home wins this season coming by a margin of two goals the Premier League champions will be confident of victory, particularly after seeing off CSKA 5-2 at the Etihad last term.

Chelsea (-1) to beat Maribor @ 8/11

Jose Mourinho will want the Blues to put in a good performance here, following a so-so display in their 2-1 victory over QPR. With a Chelsea win securing the Londoners’ safe passage to the next round, we could be in for repeat of the big win seen last month, though play it safe.

Shakhtar Donetsk (-1) to beat BATE Borisov @ 8/13

The Ukrainians may have romped to a 7-0 win away in Belarus, but with Shakhtar’s home games currently being played away from their Donbass Arena, a cautious approach could be required if you are looking to make the most of what should still be a win for the Donetsk side.
