FA Cup accumulator: Portsmouth and Coventry make the cut

Published:

Here at Ladbrokes News we are all for embracing the magic of the FA Cup, but when we found out that there was a 25/2 accumulator featuring three former winners this Sunday we ditched any dreams of tipping up the underdogs.

Instead we’re going all out on the favourites with a fivefold that embraces both form and common sense in a way that could see you seriously cashing in come kick-off.

Read on to get the lowdown on our latest picks which come fresh off the back of another fivefold 17/2 success in the Europa League.

Altrincham to beat Blyth Spartans @ 17/20

Blyth Spartans reached the Fifth Round of the FA Cup back in 1977-78 but look unlikely to progress past Altrincham, who have won three of their last four and are unbeaten in four games on the road, winning three and drawing one. The hosts, meanwhile, have won one of their last five.

Coventry to beat Worcester @ 2/7

Winners of the competition back in 1987, Coventry begin the long round to Wembley at home to non-league Worcester and after seeing off high-flying Peterborough in their last home outing will be confident of seeing off a Worcester side with one victory from nine on the road.

Scunthorpe to beat Forest Green @ 13/10

Scunthorpe head to The New Lawn in confident mood having taken seven points from the last nine available to them on the road in League One and if you factor in the statistic that Forest Green have failed to win three of their last four at home then the Iron look the team to back.

Portsmouth to beat Aldershot @ 4/7

Since lifting the FA Cup back in 2008, Pompey have endured the kind of slide usually found in your local swimming baths but have put some good form together in League Two this term and look likely to pick up a third straight home win against an Aldershot side with one win in five.

Notts County to beat Accrington @ 8/13

The Magpies’ 11-game unbeaten run may have come to an end last time out against Walsall but we still fancy them to beat an Accrington side that has won just two of their last 10 on the road in all competitions and lost 4-1 to Notts County the last time these two met in the FA Cup.
