The top-price boosts to be on when Man Utd visit Arsenal

Published:

Ladbrokes will be going top price on all Arsenal v Manchester United correct score and first scorer bets from 8am Saturday morning.

No doubt punters will want to peruse the form book for the best value wagers in these markets ahead of this mouth-watering clash, but we’ve had our tuppence-worth nonetheless:

Wayne Rooney to score first  – was 6/1, now top price @ 7/1

One more goal from the 28-year-old would see him draw clear of Robbie Fowler as the outright top Premier League scorer against Arsenal, having bagged eight for the Red Devils over the years and two in his debut season in the Everton first team, back in 2002/03.

Rooney hasn’t yet sparkled as United captain since gaining the armband during the summer, scoring three times in eight games and missing three fixtures following a red card at home to West Ham, but he has hit an impressive six strikes in as many England matches so far this term.

Better yet, four of Rooney’s last eight strikes for club and country counted as first goals, with three opening the scoring and the equaliser against Slovenia paying out as such thanks to Jordan Henderson’s OG.

Correct Score: 1-1 draw – was 11/2, now top price @ 7/1

This has been the fifth most-prevalent scoreline in the Premier League history of this fixture, if results at the Emirates and Old Trafford are included, behind either side winning 1-0, 2-1 Man Utd and 0-0 draws, which have all occurred six times to 1-1’s four.

Since the Red Devils throttled Arsenal 8-2 at home in August 2011, all five fixtures between these sides have produced three goals or fewer, with the last two at the Emirates seeing the spoils shared courtesy of 0-0 and 1-1 draws.

Both teams are liable to concede in north London, having done so in nine of their past 12 Premier League fixtures combined, so the lowest possible score-draw gets our nod.
