Some 14 years on and things are much improved for the Citizens, who head into Saturday’s Etihad clash with Crystal Palace as the overriding favourites for victory at 3/10 with Ladbrokes, following a run of seven straight victories.
The Eagles, by contrast, are far from flying in the Premier League, having gone four games without a win and at 17/2 outsiders they will be fearful of an in-form City side who previously beat the Londoners home and at away last term.

Rewind a couple of weeks and City could not buy a clean sheet for love nor money, but that’s all changed in recent times with Joe Hart shipping just one goal from his last five games. Having kept clean sheets in each of their previous three meetings with Palace a win to nil looks a safe tip.
The Eagles may not have amassed many wins in recent times but they have nevertheless proven difficult to beat. Palace have conceded exactly one goal in three of their last four and with City seeing them off with a 1-0 win at home last term, it could pay off to back déjà vu here.
