Newcastle United v Chelsea: Hazard warning for depleted Magpies

Published:

With Ladbrokes offering 11/2 on Newcastle securing a third consecutive home win over Chelsea, the temptation may be to back the bookmaker’s rather generous price on a Toon triumph.

But with as many as eight Magpies players missing through injury, it’s the 8/15 offered on another win for the currently unbeaten Chelsea that makes for the most realistic prospect, though after their 0-0 draw with Sunderland the 3/1 on another stalemate may also tempt.

Fortunately help is at hand in the form of the latest instalment in our three best bets series which features a Toon goal, a Blues victory and a goal for a certain Eden Hazard.

Newcastle United to score over 0.5 goals @ 4/5

The Magpies may be lacking in first-team regulars but that hasn’t stopped them finding the net regularly in the top flight with Newcastle scoring at least one goal in eight of their last nine.

Having scored in each of their last five at home in the Premier League a goal against the Blues – who they have beaten on their own patch in their last two meetings – looks assured.

Eden Hazard to score anytime @ 2/1

Fresh from finding the net for the Blues against Tottenham in what was the Belgian’s second goal in his last three top-flight outings, Hazard will be confident of adding to his tally against Newcastle, having scored a hat-trick against the Toon the last time these teams met at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea to win and both teams to score @ 5/2

Despite dominating proceedings in the Premier League so far this term, Chelsea have shown themselves to be more than a little fragile when it comes to defending – particularly when playing away from the familiar surroundings of Stamford Bridge.

All four of the Blue’s away wins in the Premier League have come in games where Jose Mourinho’s side have also conceded and with Newcastle boasting a fine record for goals at St James’ Park, backing a Chelsea win with both teams scoring looks a safe bet indeed.
