Price Boost: Costa to extend West Ham’s unwanted record

Published:

Few things in football are guaranteed but one that seems fairly certain this season is that West Ham will ship goals on the road.

The Irons have conceded 11 goals away from home already this season, being breached at the back at least once in each game away from Upton Park.

This will be music to the ears of Price Boost lovers with Ladbrokes making Chelsea star Diego Costa the subject of their early kick-off enhancement on Boxing Day.

The former Atletico Madrid star is loving life in England, netting 13 goals in 21 games since making his summer switch.

Three of those strikes have opened the scoring in games and Ladbrokes has boosted the odds from 5/2 to 7/2 that he can do the same again here.

Costa has scored just once in his last six games, but the Brazilian-born ace appears to over his injury troubles and the striker is unlikely to be so generously priced again this season.

Chelsea haven’t been beaten by West Ham at Stamford Bridge since 2002 and you have go back even further to 1999 to find the last time the Blues failed to score against the Irons on their own patch.

This is reflected in the odds which have Chelsea as 1/3 favourites for the win, the draw deemed a 17/4 shot and an away win a distant 8/1.

But once the numbers are crunched and all things are considered Costa looks to be the bet of the day.
