AFC Wimbledon v Liverpool: Both teams to score at Kingsmeadow

Published:

While the start of the Steven Gerrard farewell tour cruelly takes the spotlight away from Adebayo Akinfenwa, the AFC Wimbledon striker dubbed the strongest footballer in the world, the Liverpool faithful travel south hoping their side can string enough wins together to send their idolised captain across the Atlantic with one last trophy.

The visitors are certainly fancied to do that according to the match betting, which puts the Reds as 2/9 favourites for victory, with Wimbledon 11/1 and the draw at 5s.

Here are some alternative punts for the encounter:

Both teams to score @ 21/20

Only two teams have visited the Dons and returned home having shut their hosts out. But while Wimbledon have been free-flowing in attack, their defence has been anything but sturdy, conceding in all but four of those home games.

Luckily for them, and would-be bettors, Liverpool are exactly the same, especially on the road, where both teams have scored in four of their last six trips.

Over 2.5 goals @ 1/2

These two are playing in the surroundings that tend to coax goals out of their games. Only two teams have seen more strikes fly in during their home games than Wimbledon in League Two, with eight of their 12 outings at Kingsmeadow containing over 2.5 goals.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s away games have been a blueprint for entertainment, with just two of their nine on the road in the top flight falling short of the 2.5 line.

Matt Tubbs to score anytime @ 10/3

Signed on loan from Bournemouth at the start of the season, Tubbs quickly showed the class that attracted him to bigger clubs while playing for Crawley, scoring eight times in his first 10 outings for the Dons.

After a net-finding lull, the forward has returned to form of late with six strikes in his last eight games. Only two of those opened the scoring though, so backing him at anytime is a far better option.
