Liverpool legend fancies the Hollywood lifestyle say Ladbrokes

Liverpool institution Steven Gerrard is taking the brave decision to move on from his boyhood club in 2015, but he’s far more likely to do a ‘Beckham’ than a ‘Lampard’ according to Ladbrokes.

The Liverpool skipper, 34, whose contract expires in the summer, has publically stated he has no intention of lining up against the club he has appeared for 695 times.

Gerrard said: “I won’t be playing for a competing club and will not therefore be lining up against Liverpool – that is something I could never contemplate.”

Having ruled out a switch to Premier League opposition, a move to the lucrative MLS appears Gerrard’s most probable destination.

With that hop across the pond in the offing, one club stands out as the franchise of choice, and that is David Beckham’s former home at LA Galaxy.

Ladbrokes are offering skinny odds of 1/5 that Gerrard follows in his former England teammate’s footsteps by signing for the recently crowned MLS Cup champions.

Already boasting a squad containing former Reds striker Robbie Keane, Galaxy took their tally of MLS titles to a record five overall in December, securing three in the last four years.

Following Galaxy in the betting are Orlando City at 7/2, a brand new franchise who’ll be entering the MLS in 2015 looking to sign marquee players in order to boost their profile.

The more genteel pace of Serie A is also a tempting option for ageing Premier League stars, and as such AC Milan (16/1) and reigning champions Juventus (25/1) also feature in the betting.

Bayern Munich are at 20/1 with Paris St-Germain level with the Old Lady at 25s.

Considering Gerrard has spent his entire career chasing that elusive league title, Galaxy would appear to tick that one major box as well as offering the Hollywood glitz.
