Kamara: Sherwood is the right fit for QPR’s new philosophy

| 07.02.2015

Harry Redknapp’s sudden departure from his role as Queens Park Rangers boss this week has led to a number of column inches devoted to the reasons behind his resignation.

But with the west London club now tasked with the more immediate concern of finding a replacement it’s time for the inquest to end.

Tim Sherwood has emerged as the 1/6 favourite to land the gig at Loftus Road. And although the former Blackburn midfielder has yet to agree terms with QPR the odds suggest that Sherwood’s impending appointment is a mere formality.

But what can he bring to the table and how will he galvanise a team who currently sit 19th in the Premier League having failed to collect a single point away from home so far this season?

We asked our man, Chris Kamara.

“Firstly, I never thought Harry would leave. I thought he’d either see the season out or be sacked” Kammy said.

“One thing we do know though is that the transfer policy there has changed and they want to blood young talent rather than focus on buying more experienced players on big money.”

“That brings Tim Sherwood into play. In my mind he’s nailed on to get the QPR job.”

The former England international enjoyed his first foray into management with Tottenham last season although he was relieved of his duties in the summer having failed to secure Champions League football.

But having left with a 59% win record, the best of any Spurs boss in Premier League history, his stock remains high.

“I don’t know why he wasn’t given the opportunity to continue his work at Spurs. Tim makes big decisions, he’s not afraid to drop people or tell players what he thinks of them” Kammy added.

“He’s got the makings of a good manager and he’s outspoken.

“It’ll be interesting to see how that translates to dealing with a very inconsistent QPR squad.”

QPR are 7/2 to win their upcoming Premier League fixture at home to Southampton with the visitors 17/20 and the draw priced at 5/2 with Ladbrokes.
