Man United rumour round-up: De Gea stalls and De Bruyne keen

Despite recent reports suggesting Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea was on the brink of signing a new long-term deal – with Real Madrid said to have cooled their interest – the latest news is that the player hasn’t spoken to Louis van Gaal in months.
United fans were poised to breathe a collective sigh of relief when it seemed the Spaniard would commit his long-term future to the club but according to Spanish news outlet AS a deal is far from done.
AS is widely regarded as an unofficial mouthpiece for Real Madrid, but even so reports that De Gea and Van Gaal have a “poor relationship” will be a cause for concern among Red Devils fans.
De Gea has started every game this season, despite the arrival of Victor Valdes, but with his current deal running out in 2016 Van Gaal needs to break the ice sooner rather than later if he is to keep the 24-year-old at Old Trafford.
On a more positive note, United’s ongoing search for midfield talent has been given a boost after former Chelsea and current Wolfsburg star Kevin De Bruyne intimated that he has unfinished business in the Premier League.
Despite claiming that he is enjoying a new lease of life at the Volkswagen Arena, the 23-year-old feels his ambitions are more likely to be realised elsewhere, saying: “My biggest ambition is to come out for a big European club. One I can win trophies with. As many trophies as possible.”
Elsewhere, Brazilian defender Danilo has put United on red alert by refusing to sign a new deal at Porto.
The 23-year-old, who has played 11 times for the Selacao, has turned his nose up at a contract containing a £40m buy-out clause in the knowledge that United – along with Liverpool and Real Madrid – are keeping tabs.
United’s most pressing need at the back is in the middle, but with neither Rafael or Antonio Valencia pulling up trees this season the Porto could be a cut-price solution.
