Price Boost: Local Spurs hero sees first-goal price soar

Published:

Any success Spurs enjoy this season can easily be laid at the feet of one man, as the promotion of Harry Kane from academy success to first team superstar has largely propelled the club to a top-four fight and a deep run in two of their three cup competitions.

As he returns to the Europa League, the competition in which his performances largely convinced manager Mauricio Pochettino to start the Walthamstow native in all competitions, Kane sees his price to score the first goal in Spurs’ round-of-32 first leg get the price boost treatment.

Ladbrokes have picked the soon-to-be England striker out from 4/1 to bag the first goal when Fiorentina visit White Hart Lane, to an even more enticing 5/1.

Considering the forward has 23 goals to his names in all competitions this season the price already looks like a generous one, but the fact that seven of them have been the first goal of the game should ensure a flood of Ladbrokes customers jump aboard the price-boost bandwagon.

UEFA’s B-list competition was where it all started for Kane this term, scoring in three of Spurs’ six group-phase games for a total tally of five strikes so far in the competition, which puts him tied-third in the tournament’s top-scorer race.

Add to that the goals he scored in either leg of the Lilywhites’ playoff-round tie with AEL Limassol and its clear that the Europa League is a competition that Kane enjoys playing in.

With the standard of opponent only likely to increase now the knockout rounds have arrived, Spurs are unlikely to make the ironic move of benching the star now that a trophy (as well as Champions League qualification) are looming in to view.
