5 Premier League targets out to impress against Everton in Kyiv

Published:

Everton’s Europa League meeting with Dynamo Kyiv at the NSC Olimpiyskiy will be watched by thousands of Toffees fans across the world.

But there may also be a fair few Premier League scouts keeping close tabs on events in Ukraine with the hosts boasting a fine array of talented stars who look destined for bigger things.

So while a place in the quarter-finals of the competition is at stake, the game also offers up something of an audition to those Dynamo stars seeking fame and fortune in the English top-flight.

Here are just five of the players out to prove their worth to the Premier League.

5. Aleksandar Dragovic

Previously linked with a move to Manchester United, recent weeks have seen the former Basel defender show up on Arsenal’s radar. The Gunners reported interest in the 24-year-old Austrian centre-back even prompted Dynamo manager Sergei Rebrov to issue a “hands-off” warning.

4. Andriy Yarmolenko

Vice-captain and current jewel in the Kyiv club’s crown, Yarmolenko has long been linked with moves to the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool. The 25-year-old forward has scored 12 goals in 21 games already this season and looks on course to beat his previous best of 21.  The Dynamo exit beckons.

3. Younes Belhanda

The Morocco international emerged as a target for Aston Villa while at Montpellier and though he opted for Kyiv, the attacking midfielder remains keen on a move. “I am dreaming about England. Every player wants to play in England one day. I have to experience that,” he told Sky Sports.

2. Jeremain Lens

Though Roberto Martinez will be more concerned about his Everton team on the night, the Spaniard could revisit tapes of the game to see how Lens fares. The Holland international was previously scouted by the Toffees boss and could well be open to the idea of a Merseyside move.

1. Dieumerci Mbokani

Dynamo Kyiv’s battering ram of a striker is cut very much in the mould of Didier Drogba. In the past, his reputation as a solid target man has attracted interest from the likes of Stoke and West Brom, according to Talksport. Another fine showing here could get Tony Pulis and co. taking another look.
