Chelsea, Man Utd and Everton savour huge Premier League wins

As the Premier League sits in recess for the international break, the pictures at both ends of the table are starting to look a lot clearer after a trio of Sunday fixtures served up telling results.
Liverpool 1-2 Manchester United
For all the talk of Liverpool’s brilliant form and long unbeaten run in the Premier League it was their bitter rivals who stole the points and a massive march on the Reds in the race for the top four.
United were by far the better team in the first half and deserved their lead through Juan Mata at half-time.
A fired up Steven Gerrard’s introduction was supposed to reinvigorate the hosts after the break, and it did for all of 48 seconds before a ludicrous stamp on Ander Herrera saw the skipper dismissed in the blink of an eye.
Although the former England skipper publicly apologised later, his team went onto lose 2-1 with 10 men and it could have been worse had Simon Mignolet not saved a last-gasp Wayne Rooney penalty.
With the gap between United and Liverpool now five points, their top four odds now stand at 1/5 and 7/2 respectively.
Hull 2-3 Chelsea
When Diego Costa added a second after just nine minutes at the KC Stadium it looked like the Tigers might be in for a mauling.
However, two Hull goals in as many minutes threatened to derail Chelsea’s title tilt before substitute Loic Remy became the Blues’ unlikely saviour.
With less than 15 to go, the Frenchman’s shot squirmed under Allan McGregor to gift Chelsea a six-point lead with a game in hand over champions Manchester City.
Jose Mourinho’s men are now 1/16 to win the Premier League.
QPR 1-2 Everton
Things are starting to look grim for QPR after Everton gave themselves much-needed breathing space thanks to this victory in west London.
While the Toffess moved to the relative safety of 17th, the Rs slumped to 19th and now a full four points from safety they in real trouble at 1/10 to be relegated.
