Crystal Palace ready to pounce for QPR teenage talent

Published:

Crystal Palace are keeping an eye on happenings at Loftus Road with a view to moving for a QPR player with a bright future.

With a host of experienced players on the Hoops’ books there will be plenty of interest in the Rangers squad if Chris Ramsey’s side fall back into the Championship but it is a youngster that has caught the eye of Eagles manager Alan Pardew.

The Selhurst Park outfit will battle with a number of other clubs in the race to sign highly-rated teenager Darnell Furlong.

The 19-year-old, son of former QPR star Paul, made his first team debut against Hull last week and the Tigers immediately added themselves to the list of potential suitors.

Newcastle and West Brom are also said to be keen on the teenager but Pardew is hopeful that the chance to remain in the capital will see the Eagles jump to the head of the queue.

As expected, Rangers are reluctant to part company with a product of their own youth academy but with interest high and his contract running out in the summer Furlong is expected to listen to a host of offers before deciding on his future.

Next up for Palace is a trip to Upton Park where Pardew’s men will go into the tie as the 29/10 outsiders.

The Hammers can be backed at 19/20 to add more pressure to the Eagles’ survival bid, while a share of the spoils is available at 5/2.
