Chelsea’s golden-boot chasing hotshot boosted to bag first against Stoke

When Sergio Aguero’s injury problems reared their head once again during this Premier League campaign, Diego Costa must have thought he was a shoo-in to top the scorer standings.

However, Harry Kane’s remarkable run of form has seen him tie the Spaniard on 19 goals in the league, prompting a response from the Chelsea man in recent games.

Costa has bagged in each of his last two league outings, and is the prime choice to net first against Stoke in the Blues next match.

Those keen to get behind the former Atletico Madrid man will be delighted to see Ladbrokes boost his first scorer price from 5/2 to an industry-leading 7/2.

The Chelsea forward has opened the scoring five times this season, including in his last home match against Southampton.

That extended the summer signing’s fantastic record in front of his own fans in the league this term. In 11 home appearances, Costa has netted 11 times.

Costa’s odds of netting first in this clash with Stoke are also aided substantially by the Potters’ awful goal-scoring record against the Blues.

Stoke have failed to score in any of their past seven trips to Stamford Bridge, and 10 of their last 12 against Chelsea in total in all competitions.

The hosts are also the fastest guns in the Premier League this term, scoring first in 23 of 29 matches, the best record of any side.

Costa, now 13/8, has dropped behind Kane, who is 6/4, in the betting for top scorer of late due to the new England star’s outrageous form, but the Spaniard has now rediscovered his golden touch, and a golden boot could well follow.

The Blues are heavy 2/7 favourites to beat the Potters at Stamford Bridge and saunter over another hurdle on their road to the Premier League title.
