Hazard gets the nod from Kammy for PFA Player of the Year

The PFA Awards take centre stage this Sunday evening with the Premier League’s finest recognised with the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year gongs.

A host of top names have made the respective shortlists, including Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea and Tottenham sensation Harry Kane.

But who stand out above the rest?

Chris Kamara gave his opinion exclusively to Ladbrokes News: “Eden Hazard is my player of the year. He’s been instrumental this season. I look back to last term and he was the one player who came in for the most criticism from his manager, Jose Mourinho.

“It wasn’t for his forward play, it was for his defensive inadequacies. And you wondered how he’d react.

“He’s knuckled down and added another dimension to his game. Everyone in that Chelsea team needs to work their socks off and the manager won’t carry any passengers.

“It could have been so different if he’d reacted badly but that hasn’t happened.”

As well as effusive praise for Chelsea’s Belgian star, Kammy was also quick to acknowledge Kane’s incredible contributions to the Spurs cause this season.

“Harry Kane would be my pick for PFA Young Player of the Year” he added.

“He’s come from nowhere this season. He’s got a lot of people to thank for that. Tim Sherwood gave him his chance, Mauricio Pochettino’s stuck by him and he’s been a breath of fresh air. And then to score on your England debut – it’s written in the stars!

“Other players that have done brilliantly this year have been the likes of Charlie Austin. To shine in a struggling team is impressive. Normally the goalkeeper is the one who’s recognised when you’re down at the bottom.”

The betting suggests that our man has hit the nail on the head with his selections. You might not get rich when backing Hazard at 1/6 and Kane at 1/10 but the markets don’t usually lie.
