Burton need to act to keep Leeds target Hasselbaink, says Kammy

He may have only enjoyed half a season in management thus far but such is Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s rising stock his current employers may find it difficult to keep hold of his services.

That’s the opinion of Sky Sports pundit Chris Kamara following speculation linking the Burton Albion boss with a potential switch to former club Leeds United.

Kammy told Ladbrokes News: “Burton are going to have to make sure that they try and look after Jimmy as best as they possibly can.

“He’s not earned his corn just yet but he’s gone in there and done a great job. The club will be all too aware that he’s now hot property and they’re going to have to satisfy him and show a bit of ambition or allow him to move on.”

Hasselbaink took the reins at Burton back in November last year and has since guided the Brewers to automatic promotion from League Two. That success has prompted rumours of a possible return to Elland Road with the Dutchman now just 5/4 to manage Leeds at some point in his career.

“Speculation is inevitable” Kammy added.

“He’s been successful in his first job in England. He’s kept Burton at the top of the table since Gary Rowett’s departure and that hasn’t been an easy task.

“The Leeds link is unsurprising. He’s an ex-player and the fans love him up there.

“But at this stage let’s just say what a great job Jimmy has done at Burton.

“I know Jimmy very well and I know how keen he’s been to get involved in management over here.

“I knew going down to League Two wouldn’t be a problem for someone like Jimmy. He doesn’t think the game owes him anything and he’s worked to prove himself. “

Hasselbaink’s Burton side have the chance to claim the League Two title this weekend when they travel to face Cambridge United. The visitors are 3/4 with Ladbrokes to bag all three points.
