Meet the man to replace Morgan Schneiderlin at Southampton

Published:

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman appears resigned to losing Morgan Schneiderlin this summer and is rumoured to have already found his replacement.

The Frenchman is wanted by a host of clubs including Arsenal and Tottenham and Koeman is said to have prepared a £5m bid for Legia Warsaw ace Ondrej Duda in case the midfielder gets his way.

Slovenia international Duda has enjoyed a solid season in the Polish top flight, contributing eight goals from 31 appearances for the Wojskowi.

Ironically, Arsenal and Spurs have also been linked with the 20-year-old but the fact that both clubs have placed Schneiderlin higher on their list of priorities means Koeman should have a clear run at the midfielder.

A creative influence in the middle of the park, Duda has drawn comparisons with some top-rated South American talent in recent months, earning him nicknames like Dudinho and Ondrej Di Maria.

Saints are currently sitting in seventh place in the Premier League table, just four points behind Liverpool and potential European qualification.

Next up for the St Mary’s club is a trip to face in-form but relegation-threatened Leicester.
The bookies are struggling to separates Southampton and Nigel Pearson’s Foxes, with both clubs priced up at 17/10 to secure all three points.
