Pearson pips Sherwood in vote for top footballing Prime Minister

In the hypothetical scenario whereby a current Premier League manager is selected to become the next Prime Minister, Ladbrokes News readers would pick Nigel Pearson over Tim Sherwood or any other top flight boss.
That is the only logical conclusion that can be drawn after the results of our latest daily poll, which posed the age-old question: Which footballing figure would make the best PM?
Pearson may seem like a strange, almost tongue-in-cheek, choice but it’s important to remember the fine job the Foxes manager has done in guiding Leicester close to Premier League safety, having once been seven points adrift.
It would appear that it’s those achievements, rather than his touchline clash with Crystal Palace’s James McArthur and a few tetchy press conferences and fan altercations, that made the difference, with Pearson collecting 39 per cent of the vote.
Everyone’s favourite David Brent impersonator, Tim Sherwood, was a close second with 32 per cent of the vote – that means he collected roughly one of every three votes cast, for those of you with a love of ratios.
Queens Park Rangers’ Friedrich Nietzsche-loving midfielder Joey Barton was a distant third with 16 per cent of the vote, while Manchester United legend and Bill Clinton-esque bad boy Ryan Giggs got in on the action once again with a 10 per cent share of the vote.
Elsewhere, Conservative supporters will have been dismayed to see Sol Campbell score just three per cent of the vote.
That return is a major blow for the former Tottenham and Arsenal man, who has already linked up with the Tories and could yet be preparing for a bid to become London Mayor.
Boris Johnson, he most certainly is not.
