Poll: Is Elba the ideal man to take the part of James Bond?

The world’s most famous spy James Bond has been in the papers a lot this week, but the reveal of who will be stepping into 007’s shoes appears to be no nearer.
First there were speedboats and helicopters dazzling onlookers down the River Thames last week, as stunts were filmed for Bond’s next movie engagement.
And just today it has been revealed that probably the most famous Bond girl of them all, Pussy Galore, is set to return in the next novel, Trigger Mortis.
But for today’s poll we are more interested in 007’s on-screen exploits.
With Daniel Craig set to enjoy one final martini after Spectre is released this year, we want to know who you feel is the right man to take the role next.
Idris Elba – 7/4
The long time favourite for the role, Elba has all the credentials to shine as the vodka-martini-swilling, petrol-headed, ladies man.
What’s more, this month the Luther star broke the British land speed record for a ‘flying mile’, clocking 180mph in his Bentley Continental.
It’s as if he’s practicing for the role all ready!
Tom Hardy – 5/2
Hardy is another candidate that could provide a perfect blend of charisma and grit to the role.
Having played the roles of Bane, Charles Bronson and Handsome Bob in recent years, he certainly won’t struggle to deliver any action scenes with a sense of purpose.
But with experience of international espionage in Tinker Tailor, Soldier, Spy, Hardy is capable of dipping into the murky waters Bond is thrust into.
Henry Cavill – 5/1
Cavill has already reportedly screen-tested for the role of Bond, only to lose out to Daniel Craig.
But with a few more years on the silver screen under his belt, could now be the time for the Jersey-born actor to shine.
Having already played the role of Superman, the 32-year-old knows what it takes to play the biggest names in cinema.
Daniel Day Lewis – 20/1
The Lincoln actor is reportedly very choosy with which roles he plays, which may be a stumbling block to him signing up to a multi-film deal.
However, the big-name appeal of Day Lewis cannot be discounted, rarely has a film he’s been in failed to achieve praise.
At 58-years-old though, he would become the oldest Bond in history, and that is something that could be the sticking point against him getting the casting.
John Hamm – 25/1
Having already played the advertising industry’s equivalent of Bond, Hamm could be an astute choice for producers.
His performance in Mad Men rarely saw Don Draper without a drink in his hand or a woman on his arm/in his bed, something we feel may stand him in good stead.
And with Daniel Radcliffe reportedly helping him out with an English accent, he could be a dark horse.
