Poll reaction: Hardy is fans’ choice to be next James Bond
Published:
Tom Hardy is the man most people want to see replace Daniel Craig in the role of James Bond, according to a new poll.
Ladbrokes News asked readers who they would most like to see take over from Craig as British superspy 007 and with 48 per cent of the vote Hardy was the overwhelming favourite.

Second in the voting but favourite in the betting is Luther star Idris Elba, who attracted 35 per cent of the vote.
Elba rose to prominence as a convincing Baltimore drug lord in the critically-acclaimed HBO drama series The Wire and has since gained household name status as DCI John Luther.
The Londoner has made no secret of his desire for the role but according to the poll will have to convince fans he is better suited than Hardy.
Completing the top three was the unlikely choice of American actor John Hamm. The Mad Men star accounted for nine per cent of the votes despite being the only non-British option on the shortlist.
While it’s true Don Draper and Bond have plenty of similar traits Hamm seems an outside bet at best at 25/1.
Next in the voting was Last of the Mohicans and There Will Be Blood star Daniel Day-Lewis. The Oscar-winning actor would certainly be able to cope with the demands of the Bond franchise but as a man notoriously picky with his roles he is unlikely to bring a smile to the five per cent of fans who voted for him.
And bringing up the rear with just three per cent was current Superman star Henry Cavill.
With a new beard and meatier roles in films like The Man from U.N.C.L.E in the offing the 32-year-old will certainly be among the top contenders but if the fans’ opinion is to be taken into account he’ll be donning the tights for a while yet.
