Poll: How many times will Ings strike for Liverpool in 2015-16?

Published:

Liverpool have beaten many other sides to the punch in the race to seal the signature of Burnley’s Danny Ings with the striker set to join the Reds subject to a medical.

But how does the Englishman rate as a signing for the Anfield outfit?

Many will point to a couple of major flops in recent years when it comes to attacking arrivals on Merseyside, while others will take solace in the impact Luis Suarez had on arrival from Ajax.

So today’s poll is simple, we are asking you how many goals will Danny Ings score for Liverpool in his debut season at the club?

5 goals or less – 20/1

With Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert popping up with just four and three goals each in all competitions last season, Ings wouldn’t be the first Brendan Rodgers striker signing to flop.

Could he be another man who flatters to deceive on Merseyside?

6-10 goals – 7/4

Ings managed 11 goals in all competitions for Burnley last season, and while there is little reason to doubt that he can keep that up, his opportunities may be more limited in the upcoming campaign.

The likes of Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling (for the time being), and the aforementioned Balotelli could see the 22-year-old limited to far less than his 36 starts last season.

11-15 goals – 10/11

If Liverpool’s newest recruit were to finish in the higher end of this bracket, there is a good chance that he could be the club’s top scorer.

Steven Gerrard netted 14 times in all competitions last season, one of only two players to reach double figures, so it may be easier said than done.

More than 15 – 4/1

Both Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge easily surpassed this total in 2013-14, so with a decent season it is a reachable target for Ings with the addition of European football enhancing his claims.

And with Sturridge still susceptible to a spell on the sidelines through injury, any extended run in the side could see him take his chance with aplomb.
