Arrival of Billy McKay could turn things around for Dundee United

With just one win from their first five matches in the Ladbrokes Premiership, it was clear that things needed to change at Dundee United, and with the arrival of Billy McKay imminent there could be smiling faces again at Tannadice sooner rather than later.
The Terrors have reportedly had a bid of £200k accepted by Wigan to bring the 26-year-old back to Scotland, and it could be somewhat of a master stroke by manager Jackie McNamara.
A major part in the Inverness side that finished second in 2013-14, the Northern Irishman boasts a proud goalscoring record.
With 54 goals in 120 appearances for Caley, his prowess in front of goal is plain to see, and with the support he can receive from his potential team-mates, it is easy to see him banging them in the on the east coast.
Back in his days in the Highlands, the man who provided McKay with the majority of his goals was Marley Watkins, and if he can strike up a similar partnership with the likes exciting youngster Blair Spittal for the Tangerines, another crack at the top six could be in order.
The nine-capped-man’s move south of the border to the DW Stadium has clearly not worked out, with just one goal in nine appearances at Wigan, but his record before that switch speaks for itself.
Arabs boss McNamara has remained tight-lipped on the situation but reports suggest that the deal could be complete in time for McKay to be named in their squad for the clash against Ross County on Saturday.
Two straight defeats, in which United have conceded seven goals and scored just one suggest that it could take more than a new striker to justify odds of 23/10, but should the deal be complete in the next 24 hours, it will certainly make things a whole lot easier.
