Fantasy Football: The Believer starting the campaign full of hope

Published:

A slow start doesn’t mean the end of the season. That isn’t just true on the pitch, but also in the Fantasy Football arena.

The Believer is pitting his wits, along with the rest of the Ladbrokes Life gang in our very own fantasy league.

Although he knows things can turn round if points are slow to come early on, a bold first week showing is key.

You can get involved in all the fun, by joining our league with the code 1667390-354866, and throwing your hat into the ring for a free £100 bet!

All the T&Cs can be found here, but make sure you join before the cut off point of 19:45 on Friday August 14.

Here is who the Believer has gone for…

Why him? Why that formation? And where is so-and-so? We hear you ask. Good job then that our man talked us through his selections…

“Thibault Courtois is my man between the sticks, there’s a reason he forced  Petr Cech out of Chelsea and his performance last season showed why he’s one of the best keepers in the world”, our dreamer told us.

“For me, you can’t look past 4-4-2. The back four is made out of creative defenders who don’t mind getting involved in the thick of the action. Daryl Janmaat was one of the only star performers in a poor Newcastle side and with the team they’ve built this season expect great things from the Dutchman. My back four is rounded off with the ever-trustworthy pair of Per Mertesacker and Branislav Ivanovic, with Nathaniel Clyne adding that special flare.

“I’ve gone for the Liverpool captain in the centre, Jordan Henderson is in for a big season after Steven Gerrard’s departure for LA and he must produce something this season. Eden Hazard has to be in there. He was the best player in the league last season and he can only get better with age. Jack Colback and Yannick Bolasie will always be good for a few points, especially with the latter playing against newly-promoted Norwich.

“Up top I’ve gone for Spurs’ star man. If Harry Kane can perform like he did last season success for my team will surely follow. New boy Aleksandar Mitrovic joins Kane in the attack. This lad has something about him and I wouldn’t be surprised if he bags a few this season.”
