Liverpool turn tables in Premier League summer signings Value XI

There have been some hefty cheques signed off by some of the Premier League’s top brass ahead of the 2015/16 season, but even if Raheem Sterling turns out to be the world beater he clearly thinks he is, there have been far better value purchases than the £49m Manchester City newbie.
With the season only a few more sleeps away and a whole stack of players getting to know new teammates, here at news.Ladbrokes we’ve joined in the fun by devising our own value-for-money XI.
Ironically enough, it is flagrant over-payers of recent transfer windows and 2/1 top-four shots Liverpool, who come out joint top with Aston Villa as the only Premier League clubs to have multiple entrants.

Petr Cech – Chelsea to Arsenal: £10m
The Chelsea legend may be 33 but he’s undoubtedly still among the finest keepers in world football with years left ahead of him.
Glen Johnson – Liverpool to Stoke: Free
The right-back’s defending can be suspect, but going forward the man with 54 England caps is one of the best in the business.
Micah Richards – Manchester City to Aston Villa: Free
The City academy star is one of the most powerful athletes to have plied their trade in the Premier League and if fit has every attribute required.
Robert Huth – Stoke to Leicester: £3m
You only have to look at the positive influence the Huth had when loaned to Leicester in January and the seasoned German performer loves a goal or two as well.
Joe Gomez – Charlton to Liverpool: £3.5m
One of the stars of Liverpool’s pre-season tour, the composed teenage defender has been hailed by Brendan Rodgers ahead of the new campaign where he might start at left-back.
Jordy Clasie – Feyenoord to Southampton: £8m
As his name eludes too, the Dutchman is a classy operator and the man brought in to replace Morgan Schneiderlin should be a snip at this price owing to his passing ability.
James Milner – Manchester City to Liverpool: Free
The England man is arguably the biggest bargain of the lot. Operating in the centre of the park in pre-season two goals have followed and City will have been sore to lose him for nothing.
Fabian Delph – Aston Villa to Manchester City: £8m
Talking of sore, no one will be tenderer than Villa fans after their talismanic midfielder appeared to renege on a pledge to stay. City have virtually stolen the former Leeds man for this price.
Yohan Cabaye – PSG to Crystal Palace: £10m
Another of the most eye-catching deals of the summer saw former Newcastle maestro Cabaye opt to re-join old boss Alan Pardew for half the money he was sold for only a year or so earlier.
Andre Ayew – Marseille to Swansea: Free
The Ghana World Cup star was linked with Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal before opting to head to South Wales and Ayew looks set to be a Liberty Stadium favourite.
Rudy Gestede – Blackburn to Aston Villa: £6m
The capture of Gestede should go some way to placating the huge loss of Christian Benteke. The Benin striker bagged 22 goals for Rovers last term and put Liverpool through the mill at Anfield with his physicality in the FA Cup.
