Sullivan silly to air his views but West Ham man has his backers

Published:

It seems David Sullivan’s comments on Charlie Austin’s apparently ‘ligamentless’ knees after all. That is the verdict of Ladbrokes News’ latest poll.

We asked readers whether comments from the West Ham chairman regarding the QPR striker were out of order, and there appears to have been a difference of opinion amongst the voters.

After a surge in   the ‘Yes’ vote, plenty of those polled opted to side with the Irons’ boardroom boss.

In the end though, we want an answer and the answer that we got with 61 per cent of backers, was that David Sullivan was out of line.

For those who missed it, here’s what he told the Knees Up Mother Brown podcast this week:

“Firstly, we haven’t got £15m to spend under the fair play rules. Secondly, he failed a medical at Hull a couple of years ago.

“They say he has no ligaments in his knee, who knows? To sign a £15m player is a big risk. He could go on for years, but knowing our luck his knee will go in the first game and that’s the end of it.”

And judging by a couple of comments from Ladbrokes’ Twitter followers it was the way in which Sullivan broadcast his opinions, rather than the fact that he held them that …

Whether or not you agree with the Hammers’ man’s right to voice his opinion, it now certainly looks like E13 9AZ will not be a postcode Charlie Austin will be punching into his sat-nav this season.
