Europa League hero offers Spurs hope that Kane is not alone

If Tottenham extracted anything positive out of last season’s Europa League campaign, it was the realisation they had a potential superstar striker in their midst.
Using the unfashionable competition to showcase his predatory instincts, Harry Kane’s Europa League exploits ensured Mauricio Pochettino soon found space for the Walthamstow native in his Premier League line up and the rest is history.
However, an apparent misfire in the summer transfer window, where no recognised centre-forwards arrived at White Hart Lane, appeared to have placed unnecessary pressure on the Lilywhites’ goal machine to handle business up top alone at the outset of 2015/16.

Sure enough, Kane’s Midas touch in front of goal has deserted him for the opening five Premier League games of the season, but while Spurs fans have begun despairing, the Europa League may just have answered the call again.
Son Heung-min was a record signing for Bayer Levrkusen back in 2013 and was brought to Spurs in the summer as an exciting talent capable of chipping in with goals, but under the all-too common, yet slightly shady moniker of a ‘wide-forward’, rather than a striker.
Still, two goals on his European debut when deployed at the apex of Spurs’ unfamiliar-looking attack have suddenly shot the South Korean into the limelight.
Furthermore, his brace to help down FC Qarabag 3-1 in Group J has conjured renewed hope the Leverkusen import – who notched 21 times in 62 appearances for the German side – can share some of Kane’s burden this season.
Pochettino’s men next do battle at home to Crystal Palace on Sunday lunchtime, where Son is 6/1 to break the deadlock.
