Poll: Is Arsene Wenger’s on borrowed time at Arsenal?

Published:

The Arsenal fans left the Emirates disappointed, the lines on the football phone-ins went nuts and Arsene Wenger’s tenure at the Gunners became a pertinent question – all in the space of two hours.

All this came after the north London side fell to Greek outfit Olympiacos in the Champions League to put them firmly bottom of Group F with two defeats from two.

Much of the talking point came from Wenger’s decision to drop Petr Cech in favour of Colombian stopper David Ospina.

Prior to the match former Arsenal full-back Nigel Winterburn spoke of how the decision shouldn’t hold much baring on the outcome of the game.

“I’m not so sure it is a huge risk,” he told Talksport.

“I can’t remember on many occasions, if any, that he has been [at] fault for any goals. He had a strong season when he came into the team last season. He has not let the team down this season.”

And then, just hours later, this happened…

While the incident alone didn’t cost the capital club the match on its own, it was understandably Wenger’s goalkeeping switch-up that was to be the catalyst for what was to follow.

With zero points from two games and still two fixtures against Bayern Munich to come the Gunners find themselves as 9/4 shots to progress from the Group.

Could this be the beginning of the end for Wenger at the Emirates? Vote now in today’s poll…
