Three wins for Queen’s Park sees their title odds slashed

Published:

Life at Hampden Park isn’t too bad right now for Queen’s Park, with the club sitting second in Ladbrokes League 2 after a string of confident victories.

Gus MacPherson’s team are only second on goal difference to East Fife, but nevertheless the side from the capital are in excellent form.

Having begun the season hovering around 11/2 to win the division this season, an opening day loss to Annan saw the Spiders pushed out to 8/1.

Fast forward nearly two months however and the 10-time Scottish Cup champions are now just 5/2 joint favourites to top the table in spring’s conclusion.

Queen’s had followed that Annan defeat with successive away wins, before losses against East Fife and Berwick stifled the momentum.

However, as we at Ladbrokes News pointed out a few weeks ago right here, the Spiders have taken full advantage of a very winnable run of games, claiming nine points out of nine available.

A 5-1 thrashing over East Stirlingshire was followed up by a 3-1 success at home to Elgin before a 2-1 victory at Stirling Albion last weekend.

Queen’s host Montrose this weekend, who were humbled 4-1 last Saturday on home soil and who are yet to pick up a point away from home.

With that in mind, one can likely imagine the Glasgow club shortening further on those outright odds of 5/2.
