Big Sam is the right man to transform sorry Sunderland

Sam Allardyce has been given the backing of Ladbrokes News voters ahead of his proposed acceptance of the vacant managerial role at Sunderland.
When asked if Big Sam could keep the struggling Black Cats in the Premier League a healthy 87 per cent showed their support for the avuncular figure.
Allardyce is currently on Wearside to hammer out a deal with chairman Ellis Short and it doesn’t take a genius to work out what his initial brief is likely to be.
Sunderland currently sit second bottom of the Premier League having collected just three points from their opening eight games, prompting the resignation of last season’s hero, Dick Advocaat.
And with the well-documented £5.14billion TV deal coming into play next season the club’s hierarchy are desperate to recruit a manager with proven survival instincts.
The 60-year-old certainly fits the bill having established Bolton in the top-flight following promotion in 2001.
More recently, he repeated the trick with West Ham and it’s that pedigree that will have attracted his suitors at the Stadium of Light.
But should his ill-fated tenure at north-east rivals Newcastle be a concern?
