Cristiano Ronaldo strike against Porto voted his finest yet

Published:

Real Madrid and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is no stranger to scoring a worldie but having netted his 500th and 501st goals respectively last night, we wanted to know which one you regard as his career best.

In fairness, there’s a multitude to choose from but we whittled it down to a shortlist of five before posing the question.

And it’s CR9’s effort for Manchester United against Porto back in 2009 that won the day with 35 per cent of voters selecting the goal below as their favourite.

Perhaps it was this particular strike’s significance that ensured it finished top of the pile?

Having drawn 2-2 with the Portuguese side at Old Trafford in the first-leg of this Champions League quarter-final, United needed a goal.

And Ronaldo duly obliged with a thunderous strike from 40-yards that arrowed its way into the top corner.

In second place was another collector’s item from Ronaldo’s spell with the Red Devils.

This free-kick against Portsmouth has now become a trademark of the three-time Ballon D’or winner and it’s no surprise to see it feature prominently in our latest poll.

Gems against Fulham, Arsenal and Rayo Vallecano were none too shabby either but we had to have a winner and it’s the jaw-dropping goal against Porto that’s seen off the rest of the competition.
