It was the most recent on our list of incidents involving sportsmen and animals and according to voters it’s now officially the oddest.
Yes, we’re talking about MotoGP rider Andrea Iannone and his tactical headbutt of an errant seagull at last weekend’s race in Australia.
Whether it was a deliberate act or not is open to debate.
But as far as you were concerned there was no argument when it came to which of the events we put to the public was the most bizarre.
The seagull picked up a healthy 44 per cent of the vote, leaving rivals to ponder what might have been.
Meanwhile, a runaway pig was next on the list having given the stewards the slip at a baseball match in Mexico.
Elsewhere, a dangerous dog at the Tour de France and the Anfield Cat were forced to share the bronze medal having fought like, err, cat and dog, for third place.
And finally, a protesting chicken at Blackburn’s Ewood Park and Jimmy Greaves’ pitch invading pooch were left scrapping at the bottom of the leaderboard.
So, there we have it.
We can’t promise anything but this will probably be the last animal poll you see on this site for a while.
