Italian’s Watford stay looks set to come to a premature end

He was one of the many new arrivals at Vicarage Road over the summer, but it now looks like Alessandro Diamanti’s Watford stay could soon come to an end.

The Italian has made just three substitute appearances for the Hornets in the Premier League since arriving in Hertfordshire on a year-long loan, and according to Tuttosport is disillusioned with life under Quique Sanchez Flores.

And now the same source is claiming that Torino are weighing up a move to bring him back to his homeland in January.

The 32-year-old joined the Premier League new-boys from Guangzhou Evergrande back in August, and while he was a bit of a Marmite character when with West Ham in 2009-10, he’s had barely a chance to adorn himself to the Watford faithful.

Having made his way into the Italy national side at a relatively late age, the attacking midfielder will still be keen to push for a spot in the Azzurri’s Euro 2016 squad.

To do that he clearly needs to be playing football, and with the player reportedly asking his agent to explore his options, Torino’s approach could be welcome for Diamanti.

For his current club, they now have the international break to regroup before a tricky two months that sees them take on the likes of Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea (though who knows which Blues side will turn up) before the New Year.

Whether the creative attacker is donning the yellow of Watford in 2016 remains to be seen, but it appears that if he is not, he is likely to be enjoying the sights and sounds of Turin.
