Kamara: Howe quotes emphasise the long-term plan at Bournemouth

Eddie Howe’s comments about how he expects no extra funding at Bournemouth in January go to show that the long-term situation at the south coast club is far more important than this season alone.
Howe has spoken of how, despite the addition of some new wealthy board members at the Vitality Stadium, he doesn’t expect extra money to spend in the upcoming transfer window.
The Cherries fans would have known what was going to happen anyway when they got to the Premier League, it was always going to be tough.
Eddie spent plenty of money in the summer but has just been so unlucky with players getting injured long term.
The fans were never under any illusions in the first place. Howe pulled a rabbit out of the hat by getting them promoted in the first place, and it was up to him to raise their performance levels again under the difficult circumstances.
He’s just reiterating again to anybody outside of Bournemouth what the locals already know, that they are going to have to kick on with what they’ve got.
Howe sat down with the chairman a few weeks ago when he was given a new and improved contract.
When they had those discussions he wouldn’t have been thinking that it was the be-all-and-end-all to stay in the Premier League this season.
It would of course be nice, but the foundations of the club have now been set, and a look to the long-term is more important.
Less than 10 years ago, the team were in danger of dropping out of the Football League entirely, so to get to where they are now is amazing.
Howe’s obviously delighted to be there so I don’t for one second expect him to start jumping up and down if he doesn’t get money to spend in January.
Of course it is going to be difficult for him to keep the team up without spending a lot of money, but it is far from over yet.
