Kamara: Liverpool shouldn’t rush Daniel Sturridge back

Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge is apparently back in training and racing to be fit for the weekend’s clash against Manchester City. But in truth, I think the Reds would be better off waiting rather than rushing him back.
I wouldn’t have thought that Jurgen Klopp would be wanting to push Sturridge back into the starting line-up for the match if he wasn’t fully fit.
He won’t be pinning all his hopes that the striker is the answer to his prayers, he’s managed so far with what he has got.
Jurgen Klopp isn’t under any pressure as Liverpool manager at this moment of time, whatever happens, happens.
Liverpool fans will probably say that it has been a better start than they could have hoped for.
It won’t make a scrap of difference whether they win, lose or draw against the league leaders at the weekend.
So for that reason, Klopp won’t be thinking that he has to play Sturridge to get a result at Anfield.
He’ll play him if he is ready, if he’s not then he’ll manage with what he’s been doing before.
There’s a long time to go in this season and it would be better just to wait until the player is fully ready.
Liverpool have also been in the news this week after revealing that they are taking a quality over quantity approach to their academy.
The Reds are reportedly cutting back 15 per cent of the intake of young players and I think it might be a shrewd move.
The way you have to look at that decision is to think about how many players come through any academy to make a success at their club.
In truth the list isn’t massive. It’s a very difficult balancing act. You don’t want to miss out on quality youngsters but you also don’t want to be a mere breeding ground for other clubs.
The danger is that you are nurturing and educating players for other clubs to snap up once you release them if they don’t make the senior squad.
It’s a tricky to get right, but they obviously have their reasons for the decision.
