Kamara: No reason why Leicester’s great season has to peter out
Published:
No one would have thought Leicester would be top of the table at this point in the season, but it just goes to show, that you never know what football will bring you.
The league leaders’ clash against Manchester United on Saturday, is not only a top-of-the-table battle but it obviously bears plenty of importance for their main striker.
I think most people would love to see Jamie Vardy net and break the record for most consecutive Premier League games scored in, I know I certainly do.
As far as the game itself goes, it’s one I really can’t call, with both sides getting the results in the league.
Leicester have been simply fantastic this term, but you’d have to say that anything they achieve from now on in is a bonus.
Some will scrutinise their record with Manchester United just the third team of the so-called ‘Big Six’ they have played, but who’s to say they can’t stay up there in the higher reaches of the table?
They are playing great football and are rightly getting plenty of credit, especially Claudio Ranieri, and it’s easy to see why.
They’ve obviously got to take it one game at a time, but they’ve been a breath of fresh air this season.
They have owners have plenty of money, and if they splash out in January, there’s a possibility that the 21/10 on offer that they finish in the top six could be a nice bit of value.
It all now comes down to how ambitious the club’s board are, and whether they see the start they have made this season as something they can maintain going forward.
If they go out and add to their squad in the transfer window, they’ve got the manager there to really embrace their success and kick on further.
