Manchester United v PSV: United to extend unbeaten home run

Published:

Manchester United may have rode their luck to beat Watford at the weekend but the Red Devils are expected to put in a more comfortable performance against PSV in the Champions League this week.

United go into the tie unbeaten in eight home European ties, winning seven and drawing one in a sequence dating back to March 2013 and as such are billed as the 1/2 favourites to take all three points and progress to the knockout stages of the competition.

The Eredivisie outfit may have triumphed over United in the reverse fixture but are yet to secure an away point in this season’s competition – losing to CSKA Moscow and Wolfsburg – and as such are deemed the 6/1 underdogs.

The draw is on at 10/3 but with United having never drawn with a Dutch club and Ladbrokes offering some huge price boosts on the game there may be better value out there.

The bookmaker has boosted the odds on United winning and both teams scoring from 9/4 to a tempting 11/4.

United may have been solid at the back in recent weeks but with just two cleans sheets in their last eight Champions league outings there are encouraging signs for the PSV attack.

The enhanced odds don’t end with that price boost, however with the televised game qualifying for Ladbrokes famous Double Your Odds offer.

Back any player to score first and the bookmaker will double the odds if they achieve the feat inside the opening 25 minutes. *

Memphis Depay led the line at the weekend and repaid Louis van Gaal’s faith by netting the opener after just seven minutes.

As a player that scored 22 league goals for PSV last season and against his old club in the reverse fixture the Dutchman could be the man to back at 5/1.

Do to his old employers what he did to the Hornets on Saturday though and anyone backing United’s number seven will be paid out at a handsome 10/1!
