Roy’s a lucky boy: Hodgson fortunate to still have England job

Published:

England manager Roy Hodgson has gone on record as saying that he’s a lucky man to still be in the Three Lions hot-seat and Ladbrokes News readers agree with him.

Hodgson told journalists that he feels luckier than Rugby Union coach Stuart Lancaster, in reference to the fact that he managed to keep his job following last summer’s early exit from the World Cup.

And in a tight poll, 53 per cent of voters hit the ‘Yes’ button when asked whether they think the former West Brom boss has indeed been quite fortunate.

Not that you need us to do the maths but that still meant 47 per cent disagreed with Hodgson’s assertion that he’s got off lightly.

In hindsight, maybe the minority have got a point.

England have gone 15 games unbeaten, including a 10-game winning sequence to secure qualification to next summer’s European Championship.

Tougher tests await though with friendlies against Spain and France to contend with in the coming days.

If the Three Lions fail to impress in those encounters then Hodgson may not have many of his supposed nine lives left leading into his second major tournament in (double space) charge.
