Odds tumble on Chelsea making late swoop for Vardy

Published:

Jamie Vardy looks set to be the subject of a late bid from Chelsea with his odds on a switch to Stamford Bridge cut to 5/1 from 10/1 following recent speculation.

Ladbrokes are reporting a fresh surge of bets on Vardy making a move in the January transfer window with the Mirror mooting a possible part-exchange involving Blues outcast, Loic Remy.

Not for the first time this season the Leicester striker finds himself the main topic of conversation and today’s back pages have certainly captured the imagination of the betting public.

Manchester City are next in line at 6/1, leaving Liverpool and Arsenal languishing behind their rivals in the race for his signature at 10/1 and 20/1 respectively.

Vardy has been in sensational form throughout the current campaign, notching 16 goals to head-up the Premier League goalscoring chart.

But if Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink wants to snap-up the England star he’ll have to move fast as deadline day looms.

A Ladbrokes News spokesman said: “Punters are piling in on Vardy making a last-minute move to Chelsea. The odds of the striker heading south during this window are shortening by the minute.”
