Poll: Will the hat-tricks flow again when Liverpool host Arsenal?

Published:

If there is to be a Premier League hat-trick tonight, history dictates that it will be coming at Anfield, as Liverpool host Arsenal.

On five occasions has a player netted a trio of goals in games between the sides in the Premier League, making it the most potent fixture since the division’s inception in 1992.

Ladbrokes make it a 16/1 chance for another player to add his name to the list that contains Robbie Fowler, Thierry Henry, Peter Crouch and Andrei Arshavin.

The former bagged the first hat-trick between the sides in 1994, one that at the time went down as the fastest in Prem history, before adding a second when the teams met just over a year later.

His exploits means the Reds lead the head-to-head 3-2 when it comes to hat-tricks, and are 40/1 to extend that lead against Arsene Wenger’s men.

Adding to their tally could be a big ask with the Merseyside outfit only breaching the Gunners’ defence more than three times once in their last 15 meetings in all competitions.

For Arsenal, who are 28/1 to see one of their players net three times, the injury crisis that Liverpool have been facing of late will be a big boost of confidence as they look to pull away at the top of the Premier League.

The hosts have bolstered their back-line with the signing of Steven Caulker from Southampton, but you can rest assured that the likes of Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil will look to make the new arrivals’ debut as uncomfortable as possible.

So today’s poll is simple – will another player add his name to the list of hat-trick scorers in this fixture?

Vote now, and let us know in the comments section below just who you think will bag it.
